If you’re anything like me, you’ve got a juicy list of to-do’s for 2021. And, if you’re like me, you already feel behind.
Aagh! Sorry about that contagious not-quite-good-enough gene. Sorry about mentioning contagion in the current environment…
This is a reminder that like having it all – who hasn’t given up that silly concept? – it’s also not possible to do it all. Especially not all at once.
This isn’t astrophysics, but I have a sense of urgency when looking at, say, my marketing calendar for 2021, to start checking things off. Prompted by the brilliant Michael Katz to choose only FOUR things, but to do them well and consistently, I’ve decided to focus on direct mail pieces to my A-list, regular correspondence via my blog and newsletter to all my subscribers, a weekly intro or catch-up call with individual members of my community, and regular posts on Instagram. The heck with the kadrillion other ways I could be getting the word out there. I trust that if I keep my foot on the gas in those four areas, my business life will expand.
The trouble is, I want to write too many articles this week and get in touch with too many colleagues RIGHT NOW.
When I wrote my blog, Artist, Coach Thyself, I could have added this as well: whatever lesson I believe others are needing at the moment, apply that wisdom myself. Today’s message: Do just one thing at a time, do it well, and let go of the rest, just for today.
