I'm off to a running start in 2013 having been tremendously inspired by Seth Godin's event on Wednesday in NYC. It's as if he heard what I was planning for this year and then developed a talk to completely support and encourage my efforts. I believe that when...
When you put an intention out into the Universe, look out! This year, starting February 1, I intend to lead a community of women entrepreneurs in a movement of my own creation. I set this intention last month. At a Christmas Eve party shortly after I'd made this...
This will be my final post for 2012. Last week I had planned to blog about a woman business leader I'd read about and post an entry based on an obituary for the man who invented the bar code. But dealing with the overwhelming sadness and shock of the Newtown...
...there is a season. Today's post will not be about the business related epiphany I had earlier this week. Rather, I'd like to take a moment to be quiet and acknowledge the unbearable tragedy that happened yesterday. At 11:30am I was on a call with a client who...
I've been down many rabbit holes in my business, but yesterday, before meeting someone at the NY Public Library, I spotted this fellow sitting near the steps of the building and thought, "Wow! That's something I've never tried. That takes guts." Or something else....
Beverly Ellsley hosted our Artsy Girls holiday event at her sumptuous log cabin in Westport, CT last week. There were nearly 30 of us gathered--all creative women nationally recognized, successfully working in illustration, interior design, toy and game invention,...
My Remarkable Women's Network Come As You'll Be event in Westport last week was a real hit. I want to acknowledge the dozens of courageous women who attended, in costume, for taking a look into the unknown and staking a claim for themselves. As attendees...
Not sure what to call the mother of my daughter's mother-in-law (there is a Yiddish word, but that'd take too much explaining), but she (Vivian) recently recommended her hair stylist to me. I signed up for a 2pm cut with Olga today, arrived early (some things...
Imagine my delight when turning the pages of Food and Wine magazine looking for inspirational words and images, an article caught my eye: Real Heroes Don't Tweet. I loved the sentiment of the message and was further enchanted when it turned out to be about Calvin...
Terry Scarborough has been a trusted friend and colleague since we met several years ago when I spoke at an ASID CT event. As a past president, Terry immediately embraced me and helped me to become an Industry Partner, which I remained for several years. I recently...
I've done my homework; created a new vision board to inspire me over the next few years. Here are some teasers to give you a taste of where I'm heading. Anna Deveare Smith, Diana Nyad and Queen Elizabeth are each on my wall now. In addition, I cut out and mounted...
My move to NYC has vaguely resembled my first birth experience. Before my eldest was born, I threw myself into a study of pregnancy, the birth process and breastfeeding via reading, enrolling in Lamaze classes and attending La Leche League meetings. I was...
I know this is supposed to be the most joyful season of the year, but wherever I go I hear that it can also be the most challenging. The perfect holiday may be elusive to many. There is a constant pressure around what you’re “supposed to be” doing. Rather than...
A few years back at a meeting with friends and colleagues, one woman mentioned that she had to be careful what she envisioned. She referred to herself as a “master manifester” and said that sometimes it frightened her how quickly she manifested exactly what she...
Now that I’ve completely closed down the art part of my business, I can say with full confidence that it was an enormous success–always profitable, highly publicized, nationally recognized with tons of customers. The truth is, while I was in it, I NEVER referred to...
