Jane Pollak: The Artist and Lifestyle Entrepreneur Who Creates Whimsical Luxury Custom Pillows That Will Wow Your Clients
Once labeled the Cave Painter of White Plains, New York, my passion for art started with crayon drawings on a wall in the basement of my home, where I drew colorful pictures of objects, animals, and people – embracing each stroke of my crayon. I would run the crayons across the wall, into an array of dizzying colors, and feel immense satisfaction.
This is where my artistry began, the time I began to fall in love with colors and textures.
It Started with Ukrainian Easter Eggs
Time passed and I found myself studying art at the Corcoran School of Arts & Design. This was where I found my talent, then taught art several years later and revived the ancient art of making Pysanky, also known as Ukrainian Easter eggs. I found new, innovative ways to decorate the eggs using different patterns, colors, and finishes.
I became so passionate about these Pysanky that I dedicated myself to a new project: writing a book entitledDecorating Eggs. It became a best-selling craft book, which brought me national attention from The White House, The Today Show, and one of the most famous industrial designers of our time, Steve Jobs.
Today, a number of my eggs reside in the Smithsonian Museum.
These simple, yet complex objects shaped my entrepreneurial and artistic trajectory throughout the years.
In the early 2000s, I found my passion for helping women find their purpose and started my coaching business.
Then in March of 2020, COVID-19 hit. Everything changed.
But when the world stopped, my art flourished.
“Jane’s crafted pillow infuses our family room with character, emotion, and symbolism. When I look at the pillow, I am reminded of the value of craftsmanship and the poignancy of the human touch. This has prompted people, including me, to want to have more meaningful things in their lives and a personal connection to what is around us, especially in our homes.”

COVID-19: The Birth of My Custom Luxury Throw Pillows
During the long quarantine, I took an interest in penny rug making. This 1800’s traditional American uses felted wool and coins as templates to create intricate wall hangings, table coverings, and, my favorite, pillows.
I immediately fell in love with the process, feeling as connected to this art form as I did when I was a young girl, back in White Plains.
Every pillow is hand-stitched with dyed wool pieces, Perle cotton filaments, glass beads, and vintage buttons. Attention to detail is a major part of this process.
More Than Just Another Bespoke Pillow
This craft is very personal not only to me, the artist, but also to my clients. My pillows are more than just decorative objects placed on pieces of furniture.
The pillow’s delicate, layered elements create a jaw-dropping factor that the discerning patron wants to achieve with their interior design – no matter the style.
A Personalized and Easy Experience for Interior Designers
Interior designers and firms can experience ease, professionalism, and quality craftsmanship when they hire me to create art for their clients’ homes.
I offer personalized care with interior designers, in finding the best combination of color palettes and textures to ensure the homeowner’s and designer’s vision is brought to life in a unified way.
I want to share my story and craft with your clients. I want them to look step back and think, “Wow, this pillow is stunning and has history.”
Well-crafted home décor pieces should bring a bright, chic, and refreshing experience to any room of the house.
