Getting a Kick Out of Myself Twice

Jane 66 full viewI sent out photo cards announcing my uptown move to a handful of close friends and relatives–those least likely to see my post on Facebook (which I since took down on the advice of my brother).

Upon its arrival, I received an email from one of those dear friends thanking me for my ‘moving’ card. I was struck that she found it so poignant as to label it such. “Ah,” I thought to myself. “The pictures of me on the staircase near my building touched her heart. How sweet!”

Until I realized that she was simply referencing the card about my move–thus, my moving card.

Sometimes I get a huge kick out of myself, and then a laugh as I realize my grandiosity was not required.

This afternoon, while working on a PowerPoint for a speaking engagement in California next week, I wanted to insert a video among the slides. I copied the video from my MacAir and pasted it into DropBox.

Beginning to feel pretty cocky that I knew to do that.

Then, I added a new slide into my deck, created a black background and inserted the video right from DropBox. Everything was going swimmingly until I put the program into ‘play’ mode and saw only a black slide where the video should be. Went to the animation menu and saw that I had to click on “play” rather than leaving it on the default “none” choice. Voila!

I went back to the fullscreen option, clicked the slide and watched the video. Kick #2.
